GTA 6 Release Date Confirmed: Extended Look Reveals More of Vice City
Rockstar puts GTA VI back at the center of the gaming calendar
Grand Theft Auto VI has returned to the top of global gaming searches after Rockstar Games released its new “Extended Look” presentation. The footage offers the clearest official view yet of the studio’s return to Vice City, while also reinforcing the release schedule for one of the most anticipated games in the industry.
Rockstar says GTA VI will launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X
S. The company has not announced a PC edition, leaving computer players without a confirmed release window. The latest presentation does not change that platform list.
Jason and Lucia lead the story in Leonida
The game follows Jason and Lucia, a pair drawn into a criminal conspiracy after an apparently straightforward job goes wrong. Their story unfolds across Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional state inspired by Florida, with Vice City serving as its most recognizable urban center.
The extended footage expands the world beyond neon streets and beaches. Highways, wetlands, marinas, nightlife districts and smaller communities suggest a setting built around the contrast between tourism, wealth and organized crime. Rockstar’s official description places the relationship between Jason and Lucia at the center of the narrative rather than treating them as separate playable figures.
Preload begins on November 12
Digital buyers will be able to begin preloading GTA VI at local midnight on November 12, one week before launch. Rockstar also says the physical version will become available on the same date to support preloading, but the retail box will contain a download code rather than a game disc.
The game is being sold in Standard and Ultimate editions. Players who buy the Standard Edition will be able to purchase an Ultimate Edition upgrade separately. Digital preorders and eligible purchases made before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+ membership, according to Rockstar’s published preorder details.
A release with major expectations behind it
The scale of anticipation is supported by the performance of the series itself. Take-Two Interactive reported that Grand Theft Auto V has shipped more than 230 million units worldwide, giving its successor an unusually large existing audience before launch.
Take-Two has reiterated its confidence in the November 19 date, while Rockstar has opened global preorders and published platform support information. Those steps make the current schedule more concrete than earlier release windows, although any future change would still require a new official announcement.
What remains unconfirmed
Several major questions remain unanswered despite the new footage. Rockstar has not detailed a PC version, the launch plans for a new online mode or the precise technical differences between the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X
S editions. More information about performance modes and download size is also still pending.
For now, the confirmed timeline is straightforward: preloading starts November 12 and GTA VI launches November 19 on the two current-generation console platforms. With the extended look now available and preorders open, the final weeks before release are likely to keep GTA VI among the year’s most searched entertainment stories.
